JUST STOP OIL, PLEASE JUST STOP!

Tarin is all for a good protest, protecting the world, protecting jobs, protecting lives, ending fox hunting and protecting the right to wild camp. Yay! Go Team! this is all good. but then…

Ok the way tarin sees it is, you got the smart and safe protesters and the dumb and dangerous ones, and there’s one particular group of dumb and dangerous protesters one group that are now starting to really get on tarins nerves.

Of course you know tarin is talking about the “Just Stop Oil” idiots (the title of the blog probably clued you in). tarin can really understand why people are getting annoyed with them and their stupid stunts.

Tarin isn’t on about them glueing themselves to stuff and throwing soup about, though there are families that could do with that soup, wasteful, but this stuff is not the big issue here, the issue is the stopping of traffic, sitting in the middle of roads and motorways, climbing around on motorway signage, that is the stuff we are talking about. So …

Dear “Just Stop Oil” protesters of the dumb and dangerous variety,

tarin can sit here and lecture you about how every time you cause traffic problems you could be diverting an emergency services vehicles, taking precious seconds from their response time, meaning they are taking longer to get to the emergency, meaning the longer they take the more likely someone could suffer a more life changing injury/illness or die. that person that you just killed could well be a none dumb and dangerous “Just Stop Oil” protester who does their thing via a blog or YouTube.

Nor is tarin going to lecture you about how the people you could be holding up are doctors, nurses or care workers, or support and social workers trying to get to their disabled clients, who depend on that support so they can get things done at home, or get to doctor appointments and diabetes checks and occupational therapy appointments.

Nor is tarin going to nag you about how you could be pissing off simply the average Joe or Josephine trying to pick up the kids from school or baby sitter, or are just wanting to get home after a long hard slog.

And tarin is definitely not going to tell you how your actions may be causing rage inside people who might drive angry (bad idea) or just stop driving and decide to get out their cars and kick your arses (or just run over your foot)…and that’s understandable, though not advisables.

tarin is not gonna sit here and type all those long lectures and thousands more we could all think of and try to appeal to your better and more sensible nature, because you obviously haven’t got one of those. You are just selfish, dangerous, idiots and that is why you and your cause do not matter to most people.

That’s right, this letter is to tell you that, to the world at large, YOU AND YOUR CAUSE JUST DON’T MATTER! How do you like that?

Because of all the trouble you cause, because of all the danger you put people in, because of your lack of consideration for anyone but yourselves and your protest, you don’t matter, people laugh at you because of the dumb stuff you do and despise you because of the dangerous stuff you do.

In short you are drawing the worst kind of attention to yourselves and so many people don’t care and don’t want to listen to you or support you because of the ways you try to be heard.

We see your faces for two seconds in a news report, then we forget them, we say “pfft, them again.” and then we get annoyed over the trouble you cause and that little fire of rage burns, the one where we just want to slap your butts into a cell and leave you to rot, not one where we want to help you and take action. That doesn’t even cross most of our minds.

WWF have Earth Hour, LGBTQ+ has stuff like Pride and TDOR amongst other things, tarin will not list every organisation, and the ways in which they raise awareness and make the their voices heard, but to tarin’s knowledge, they don’t purposely go out risking lives to do it. so what tarin is saying to you is, There has to be a better way…FIND IT . Then maybe people will be willing to listen and take you more seriously.

The world is important, the environment is important, and yeah, oil bad and alternatives need to be found, but how? What? Where? well truth is tarin isn’t intelligent enough to answer any of that. Are you Just Oil Protestors, are you intelligent enough to answer how we can make medical devices, that we make out of plastic , (which many plastics, oil is a big ingredient isn’t it?) without plastic without oil?

If you are smarter than us, teach us, if you have another way, show us, if you want to find a way together, ask us to help, to work with you. but don’t endanger us or those we love and care for, with your dumb and dangerous protests please.

Just think about it, please.
